Beautiful. I imagine the photographer waking at 5 or 6 am for an early morning walk, capturing the scene while the rest of the barge is fast asleep, but then I remember you’re in the land of the “Midnight Sun” (a la Robert W. Service, poet), and a very simple question comes to mind, and that is, does the sun set where you are and, if so, at what time? How many hours of darkness do you have?

Just an FYI..are you aware that there are postings and updates on Facebook that are not appearing on the blog? This may be intentional, but I just was curious.

Hi Nancy,
Facebook and the blog are mostly separate entities (they are always united by our tweets). When something substantial happens we try to make sure all the bases are covered. Everybody has been working very hard on science over the past few days but we hope to have new updates up tomorrow. /ab

Monique, it is light here all the time. The sun is just starting to get close to the horizon at this time of year. It might be that by the time we leave Cherskiy there will be some dusk at least. Thanks for asking!
