After a gripping round of icebreakers, the students–and professors– from St Olaf, Carleton, UNR, and Western Washington are anxiously awaiting their departure. Bitting our nails, missing our parental figures, and frantically trying to complete required readings, we are ready to get on the plane! We hope to see the Clarkies soon and can’t wait to get started!

July 2, 2009 at 5:35 pmGood news. Though the flight from Boston to Chicago was significantly delayed, it finally made it to Chicago just in time for the connection to Moscow – otherwise, 5 participants would have been scrambling to catch up with the rest of the group in Moscow before their departure to Yakutsk. Whew – first hurdle cleared – the 2009 Polaris Project group, minus the participants that will join us in Russia, is finally assembled and are all now somewhere over the Atlantic Ocean heading for Moscow..
Next significant hurdle – customs clearance at Moscow Domodedovo Airport… in about 7 hours…

July 2, 2009 at 7:37 pmThanks Erin for the airport photo! As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words (altho I lappreciated your synopsis as well). Everyone looks happy and eager for the adventure ahead. Best of luck, from one of those parental units to which you have referred.
